what is yoga?
"Yoga is the ability to direct the mind exclusively towards an object and sustain that direction without any distraction'. Yoga Sutra 1.2”
Yoga is an ancient practice originating in India and is about 5000 years old. The word yoga comes from the sanskrit word ‘yuj’ which means ‘to unite or integrate’, so in other words yoga is about integration of all the different aspects of being human; the physical, mental and the emotional.
In yoga we treat our bodies with care and respect as it is our primary tool in this practice. Yoga can improve awareness of the body; its breathing, circulation, and its limitations and it will generally improve bodily functions and promote a calmer and clearer outlook on life, with time and practice we will be able to integrate these aspects into our everyday life.
